The Greatest Gamble

Remember Blaise Pascal? He's one of the greatest mathematician of our time and he offer something you to think about. It is known as "Pascal's Wager." He suggested that living as if there is a God is a better wager (bet) than living as if there is no God. If you live as if God doesn't exist and you're right, you just die and go to your grave. But if you live as if God doesn't exist, and you're wrong, you go into eternal misery in Hell.

Conversely, if you live as if God does exist and you're wrong, then you would just die and go to the grave. But if you live as if God does exist and you're right, you have just hit the jackpot for an eternity in Heaven.

Pascal's point was: Why not take a gamble that there is a God? If you're wrong, you've lost nothing, and you've had a good life here. But if you're right and God is real, you'll have eternity to be thankful that you chose wisely.

We gamble every time we get in a car or an airplane, or use an appliance, or eat in a restaurant. So why wouldn't we take a gamble on this, where there is everything to gain and nothing to lose?

THE TABLES ARE TURNED

In Acts 26, Paul faces King Agrippa and testify himself, the resurrection of Jesus and Christianity. After telling the King his story, Festus accused Paul of being insane (verse 24). But he turned the tables to Festus (and the rest of the skeptics from that time and today) and said (verse 26) "For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner". All of this things are of the knowledge of the King. And the King didn't stopped Paul and call him a liar. What will you do if the table is turned to you. When you can't escape the evidence and the truth. Are you willing to jump to your blind belief? Have you ever ask your self if its worth it to go to eternity knowing the truth but not accepting it?     By the way King Agrippa responded that he(verse 28)", Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian". Thats how powerful Paul's testimony. BUT. almost IS NOT ENOUGH!!! You almost won the lottery but still you wont get any money. You almost became the mayor in your city but still you wont have any power. You almost shot the last point in your favorite game but you still lose. You almost believed in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior but it wont take you to anywhere!!! It will only take you to hell.(read "More Than A Carpenter" by Josh McDowell for more evidence about Jesus and Christianity. Check the section "Books and Reading Materials Available in your School Library" for the libraries that carries that book).

EYE SURGERY

Consider this: if someone came to you and said "I'll buy your right eye for 20 million pesos and it will be replace by a glass eye" will you make the deal? "How about  50 million for both eyes?" Will you take the offer? How much will you sell your eyes? Of course you wont. No one in his right mind will accept the offer. Your eyes are precious to you. But your eyes are only the windows of your soul. You're soul is priceless compare to your eyes. Jesus said to avoid hell at all cost  "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell." (Matt. 5:29). If your eyes are so important to you how much more the soul the looks out of it. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"( Matt. 6:26, emphasis mine).

FAMOUS LAST WORDS (from the Evidence Bible as quoted in One Heartbeat Away by Mark Cahill)

Kurt Cobain (suicide note) “Frances and Courtney, I’ll be at your altar.  Please keep going Courtney, for Frances.  For her life will be so much happier without me.  I love you.  I love you.”

Socrates “All of the wisdom of this world is but a tiny raft upon which we must set sail when we leave this earth.  If only there was a firmer foundation upon which to sail, perhaps some divine word.”

Aldus Huxley (humanist/atheist) “It is a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one’s life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than ‘Try and be a little kinder.’

James Dean “My fun days are over.”

Voltaire (skeptic philosopher) " I'am abandoned by God and man! I will give you half of what I am worth if you will give me six months life. Then I shall go to Hell; and you will go with me. O Christ! O Jesus Christ!"

John Milton (British Poet) “Death is the great key that opens the palace of Eternity

Jesus "It is finished! Father, into Your hands I commend My Spirit.”

If this will be the last day in earth for you, you'll be heading for an eternity of either joy or anguish what will be you last words be?

What if you had more time in your life? What if you could live life differently than what you have? What if you could write down what you hope your last words will be before you die? What if you then could live a life that would actually reflect those words? What would those words be?

“For each one shall bear his own load.
Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Galatians 6:5-10
